Frontline - LE60 Price: POA
Last Updated On: 20/03/2024
This is the LE60. Frontline’s latest evolution of the world’s most famous sports car: the MGB. Optimised for the 21st century, LE60 combines a radically evolved drivetrain with ultimate Grand Tourer performance and refinements.
It replaces the previous and much praised LE50 with many upgrades and improvements, biggest of all perhaps is the fitting of a modernised classic 4.8-litre Rover V8 engine. This gives the new model performance figures that owners of original 'B' Series powered MGBs would think is other worldly! Putting out 375bhp at 6200rpm, the LE60 can reach 0-60mph (97km/h) in just 3.6 seconds, on the way to a top speed of 160mph (257km/h)! Transmission is a 5-speed Tremec TKO gearbox into a Quaife LSD.
The tremendous power of the LE60 demands exceptional torsional rigidity and plenty of grip for the extraordinary acceleration, progressive handling and braking. For these reasons, the model is only available as a GT coupe and has distinctive subtly reworked bodywork to accommodate a wider track and 225/55/16 tyres. Stopping the car are 6-pot 310mm vented discs up front and 2-pot 265mm rear discs and the suspension is double wishbone at the front and multi-link rear with Nitron dampers.
Every Frontline model since 1992 has featured exquisitely hand-finished interiors and the LE60 takes that tradition to an ultimate level. The highest quality leathers and Alcantara adorn a redesigned interior and seats, while the fully-specced dashboard features refaced instruments, switchgear and a host of high-tech equipment, including a bespoke premium sound system.
Frontline call their models Factory Editions and for this read 'limited editions' as they intend to make just thirty examples of the LE60.
